Core Beliefs
We affirm with believers throughout the centuries those truths in the Apostle’s Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting. Amen.
In addition, we affirm our belief in the:
•Truth of God’s Word: The Bible is the authoritative word of God, infallible and true. (Lk 4:2; 2Tim 3:16-17; Heb 4:12)
•Trinity: That God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit are three distinct persons of one God. (Matthew 28:19, 1 Corinthians 13:14, Eph 1:13-14,17)
•Salvation: All are separated from God by sin and are in need of salvation. Through the grace of God, all who believe in Jesus Christ shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16; 14:6; Rom. 3:23; 6:23; Eph 2:8;)
•Transformation: The Holy Spirit works within each believer to help them grow in Christ-likeness. (John 14:26; Titus 3:5; Eph 4:20-24)
•Church is the Body of Christ: Joined together in heart, mind and soul through the Holy Spirit with Jesus Christ as the head. (Rom 12:4-5; 1Cor 12:27; Eph 1:22-23; 4:4,16,25; Col 3:15)
•Christ’s Return: Christ will return to Earth, all will be judged, and Christ will reign as King over all believers. (Rom. 2:6,16; 14:10-11; Rev 14:7)
•Sacraments: Christ instituted two sacraments/ordinances, Faith (believer’s) Baptism (Matthew 28:18-20) and the Lord’s Supper (Luke 22:19-20), to be carried out under the authority of the local church.
